How does the matching system work?
ChromaChat pairs you anonymously with other active users worldwide. If you add interest tags (e.g. gaming, music), our pairing script prioritizes matches sharing those interests. If no interest-specific match is active, the system automatically falls back to the general global matchmaking pool.
Why is my webcam showing "Camera Offline"?
This error indicates that ChromaChat does not have permission to access your webcam. To fix this:
- Click the padlock icon next to the URL in your browser's address bar.
- Toggle "Camera" and "Microphone" permissions to "Allow".
- Reload the page and try clicking "Start Camera Preview" or "Start Chat" again.
How can I get more Gems for targeted filters?
ChromaChat features a virtual Gem Economy. You can claim free Gems daily by using our **Daily Rewards Wheel** on the home page. Alternatively, you can click on your Gem Badge in the header and choose a mock top-up package to credit your balance instantly.
I was banned from matching. How do I appeal?
Bans are triggered automatically by our automated AI moderation system if graphic nudity, streaming violations, or multiple report flags are detected on your connection. IP bans are temporary and expire within 24 hours for a first infraction. If you believe this was a mistake, please submit details through our Report Abuse forms for manual review.
Can other users record my video chat?
ChromaChat uses secure Peer-to-Peer (P2P) connections and does not record or store streams on our servers. However, malicious users can use external screen capture tools. We urge you to keep your face partially hidden using AR filters or avoid displaying sensitive information to remain safe.
